JellyDazzle collects nothing, stores nothing, and sends nothing. It has no network code, no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. Nothing you do in the app leaves your Mac.
Audio
JellyDazzle reacts to sound, so it listens while it is running. On macOS 14.2 and later it taps the system audio output so it can move with whatever is already playing — a music app, a browser, anything. On earlier versions of macOS it falls back to the microphone, which is why macOS may ask for microphone permission the first time you run it.
That audio is turned into numbers and thrown away. Each block of sound is analysed in memory to drive the visuals for the current frame, then discarded. It is never written to disk, never recorded, never buffered for playback, and never transmitted anywhere. There is no code in the application capable of sending it, because the app has no network capability at all.
You can revoke the permission at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone. JellyDazzle keeps running without it; the visuals simply stop responding to sound.
What the app stores
| Data | Collected? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Audio | Analysed, not collected | In memory only, discarded each frame |
| Personal information | No | No name, email, or account of any kind |
| Usage or analytics data | No | No telemetry, no crash reporting, no tracking |
| Identifiers | No | No device or advertising identifiers |
| Contacts, photos, files, location | No | Never requested or accessed |
| Your preferences | On your Mac only | Settings and the startup measurements stay in the app’s own container |
Diagnostics
A developer diagnostic mode can write an audio-level log to a temporary file. It is off by
default and runs only when the environment variable JD_AUDIO_METER=1 is set by hand
before launch. It contains signal levels only — no audio, nothing personal — and it
never leaves your Mac.
Third parties
None. JellyDazzle contains no third-party SDKs, no advertising libraries and no analytics services. Because nothing is collected, nothing is shared or sold.
Children
JellyDazzle is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Data-protection laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export or delete data held about you. We hold none, so there is nothing to produce or erase. If you would like that confirmed in writing, ask and we will confirm it.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
